So you’re focused on trying to grow your pet’s Instagram account… That’s great!! Are you also repurposing the video content you make for Instagram on other platforms?? If your answer is “no”, this blog post was written for you!! My hope is that after reading this blog post you will be inspired to repurpose your Instagram Reels content everywhere you possibly can: Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and anywhere else you can think of!! I’m going to show you how I repost my video content across multiple platforms with only a few extra minutes of effort, and how much growth I have seen across all of my social media channels as a result!!
I’m Victoria – dog mom and social media manager for @justbeingfarley. In my last couple of posts, I’ve been delivering tips for people looking to grow and monetize their pet’s social media accounts. Today I’m continuing that trend, by showing you one of my favourite underrated tips for social media growth… how I create Instagram Reels content that can be repurposed on other platforms with very little additional effort!!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say things like:
- “Why bother, no one follows my Facebook page anyways”
- “TikTok is just for trends and dances”
- “YouTube is too hard to grow”
- “I don’t have time for another social media platform”
Do any of these sound like you?? Believe me, I used to feel the same way!! But in late 2021 I decided what the heck, let’s try this for a bit and see what happens…
I started creating my video content in a way that made it easy to repurpose, and began posting EVERY Instagram Reel I created to Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. At first it felt silly… getting 1 like on Facebook, 10 views on YouTube, it felt like I was posting content for nobody. But since I was already creating the content for Instagram, it didn’t take much additional effort. So I stuck with it, and over time it totally paid off!! My 60 day insights are shown below for Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
As you can see, with a bit of extra effort, I was able to turn JustBeingFarley from an Instagram-only presence, to a multi-platform social media enterprise!! We now have substantial followings on several different platforms, which is great for reaching new viewers, finding different ways to monetize, negotiating larger value brand partnerships, and providing some peace of mind in case Instagram ever decides to glitch out again (anyone still traumatized from October 2021??).
Now that you’ve seen what is possible, let me show you my video creation process, and how I make it super easy for myself to keep up with posting videos across several different platforms.
I film all my video content using the regular camera app on my phone. I know there’s some fancy features if you use the camera within TikTok or Instagram, but most of the time I just want to film a regular video. Especially when it comes to filming pets, we don’t have extra time to be messing around!! The standard camera app is quick and easy to access, and is perfect for filming adorable clips of our pets for social media!!
I use an app called CapCut to edit all of my short-form video content. CapCut is available for iPhone and Android and is free, high quality, and super easy to use. This app is my secret weapon for creating high quality video content that can be easily shared across multiple platforms!! And best of all, I never have to worry about losing an Instagram Reels draft again (if you know you know).
In the video below, I go through my entire video creation process from filming, adding trending audio, trimming clips, adding filters and text, exporting, and posting to various platforms. It’s a long video (~20 minutes), but I strongly believe that after watching it you will leave with some new ideas and ways to save time on your video content creation in the future!!
I truly hope you gained something useful after reading this post and watching the video!! If you have any other questions about video editing in CapCut, social media growth, or any other ideas for future blog posts please let me know!!
